Rewarding Good Behaviour….

I went swimming this morning, after deciding this week (week 29) that I needed to look after myself better, but I couldn’t resist a treat afterwards.  I am using the rewards system of rewarding good behaviour. Be good to yourself and others!

Mortality, Morality and Fear….

I hit a wall this week (week 28) mentally not physically.  A period of contemplation and reflection, a look at the past 6 months and thinking about the next 6 months.  About morality and mortality, about community and friendships.  As you can imagine that made for quite a busy week right there!

After having a few deep discussions about ‘why we are here?’, ‘what is our purpose in life?’, ‘how long will we be here on this mortal plane?’ it brought together a number of very difficult questions to answer.  Some questions which may never be answered and some which will be different to each person it is asked of.

I think what I got out of all this questioning, so far at least, is that it’s important to question yourself, to understand who you are and to know where you are going, your goals and aims in life.  Also that these things change over time and at different points or crossroads in your life, so it is important to keep asking yourself the questions ‘Who you are?’ and ‘What do you want?’.  I think it is only through doing this that you can focus yourself and not let the years run away from you without any action and/or direction.

I have also realised personally that I have been purposefully not progressing things for myself in some sort of fear that; I know by making these changes my lifestyle will change and, I feel comfort in keeping with what I have, what I know.  But I also know that without making these changes I will not be giving myself the best chance of moving to something bigger and better.  It’s time to dispense with the fear and make a move.

Have a great week y’all

A triple headed treat…..

Welcome one and all to the next instalment of my blog.  OK so my weekly blog has not been offering consistency and has kept you all guessing as to whether I would actually manage to get to the end of my 52 week commitment, having blogged weekly throughout the 12 month period I’m calling 2013 (well that’s because it is 2013!).

I have to say to cover weeks 25, 26 and 27 fully I would need to write a sort novel, as I have been involved in so many things the past three weeks, but luckily for you I will pick the most memorable or significant to share with you.

So let’s get started….. Week 25 was one of cultured and thought-provoking events.  Tuesday I found myself spending a lovely evening with a colleague, who I have to say was the last person I would have expected to find myself out with socially.  However, we took a wander around the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition 2013 as part of a corporate event and looked at many works of arts, discussing the merits of and prices of the pieces of art which caught our eye.  The pieces ranged from a couple of hundred pounds up to hundreds of hundreds of pounds.  Something for every purse I suppose.  This particular exhibition was open to anyone to sell their art as long as they were prepared to follow the strict guidelines for delivery and collection and willing to pay the Royal Academy a 30% commission.  There was one piece in particular which was literally a canvas not much bigger than A4 which was painted in a gradient from white to off white being sold for about a hundred pounds and I wondered to myself what actually is art.  Something very subjective was my conclusion, so I thought I should get myself involved in some sort of art project.  So I have decided to write some songs, which fits nicely with the progress I am making in my music lessons.

I also attended a Summer Ball at Vintners Hall, London which was an opportunity to wear an evening dress, eat beautiful food and weirdly be entertained by opera singing waiters.  A really great time was had by all.

Week 26 was busy but in a slightly different way, this was a week of travelling and making new connections.  My job takes me quarterly to Stirling in Scotland, however, my usual hotel was not available so I had to stay somewhere new.  The hotel I normally stay in although not the best has always provided me with a good nights sleep and that all important short journey to the office in the morning (it means I can have a bit longer in bed, a lie-in if you will).  The new hotel was clean and the décor was mostly dark wood and browns.  I had a good night’s sleep albeit it was a bit on the warm side but it was warm generally in Scotland that week so I suspect they were expecting colder temperatures.

I also acquainted myself with the basement filing room, I did say it was a week of making new connections he he

Nearly there, hold on to your hat… So to the week that has just gone, Week 27 (a round of applause) was a week of laughter and entertainment.  I went along to a schools amateur performance of the Tempest, well I say amateur it was really well put together.  The songs were uplifting and well sang and the scripted lines were brilliantly delivered.  Our young people really have amazing talents, we should encourage and support them in developing themselves, they are the future after all.

On Wednesday I sat in the audience of a new comedy panel show “Was It Something I Said?”, which is where the laughter aspect came from.  Free audience tickets are always provide a cost-effective night out, as you have 3 hours of sitting watching TV personalities showcasing their talents.  A number of titters, gaffors and sniggers were had as the comedians made continuous quips and funnies.

And that here ends my update and our time together this week.  Have a great week and I hope you experience positive challenges and plenty of laughter this week.  Adieu
